It connects thesouthern and the northern shores of the Chi-An River to Hangzhou City. WuShangzun in the Qing Dynasty wrote about it in his poem ‘Chi-An Bridge’: ‘Looking far into the distance, I seeendless river water and pale moonlight, the shores are filled with the voicesof people talking, and lights are already on to welcome the night. Paddlingthrough, I drank to the cold weather. The reed catkins are flying in the airlike snow, and hence I know the Village of Xie-An is near.’ This poemdepicted the lively scene near the Chi-An bridge. The Chi-An Bridge we seetoday, which has a sole arch and is made of stones, is the original onerecorded in history.
